RYA Yachtmaster Sail - Day Sails

Description:

Please note we aim to run this course, but if we cannot due to Covid-19 restrictions, we will transfer your place to a later date or issue a refund.

Due to restrictions in place during COVID-19, we are limiting places on board to a maximum of 3.

The RYA have approved the running of sailing courses where candidates can go home in the evening, so this course is planned to run as Day Sails, 9am-5pm, with a couple of later evenings for night navigation.

This means we can limit the amount of time spent in close quarters below deck, and therefore make it easier to follow social distancing guidelines. If restrictions are lifted further before this course runs, we will review how we run the training and contact you.

7 days. (5 +2 for exam) There is no fixed syllabus for this course and we try to work on areas that you need to work on and that the examiners tend to look at during the exam. We go through usual preparation subjects such as electronic nav, boat handling, day and night pilotage, passage making, meteorology, IRPCS, engines, emergencies and using tides.

There is an additional exam fee payable to the RYA: £193 for Coastal, and £224 for Offshore.

Previous seatime and qualifications: 50 days sea time, 5 days as skipper, 2500 miles, 5 passages over 60 miles including 2 as skipper and 2 overnight (half the seatime must be in tidal waters). VHF/SRC licence, STCW or RYA First Aid certificate.
Assumed knowledge: Navigation to Coastal/Yachtmaster shore based standard.
