7 days (5 +2 for exam). There is no fixed syllabus for this course and we try to work on areas that you need to work on and that the examiners tend to look at during the exam. We go through usual preparation subjects such as electronic nav, boat handling, day and night pilotage, passage making, meteorology, IRPCS, engines, emergencies and using tides.
Candidates meet at 09:00 on the Monday morning, and you'll be off the yacht by 15:00 on the following Sunday at the very latest (you may finish before, depending on how many of you choose to sit the exam).
There is an additional exam fee payable to the RYA: £193 for Coastal, and £224 for Offshore.
Pre-requisites for both the Coastal and Offshore exams can be found on this page.
