SeaRegs Training is recruiting up to 2 Apprentices to assist in maintaining our vessels, engines, classrooms, and skippering boats as required. This role is ideal for those looking at having a career in the marine industry to get a good insight and valuable experience working on the water, skippering, and vessel/resource maintenance.
Successful applicants will follow a comprehensive two-year apprenticeship to gain skippering and marine maintenance qualifications whilst on the job.
Starting salary will be based on age and previous experience as anyone over 16 can apply for an Apprenticeship, and there is no upper age limit. You could be leaving school or use it as an alternative pathway to sixth form, college or university, or changing career and want to springboard into a new industry. You’ll be working 80% of the time, training for 20% of the time but paid for 100% of the time.
The Apprenticeship will be based on a 2-year training programme. By the end of the training, apprentices should have the required underpinning knowledge, have the relevant sea service to gain a recognised skippers certificate for commercial vessels up to 24m in length and have a host of industry recognised certificates.
This role will be varied and involve practical work outside and in, preparing and fixing all types of vessels plus some vessel crewing and eventually skippering.
SeaRegs Training has a range of vessels and classrooms which operate 12 months a year and require full-time support. Candidates should be prepared to work 5 days a week, including 25 weekends a year, as the maritime industry operates 7 days a week.
