The Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Theory course requires pre-course knowledge to Day Skipper theory level. Assumed knowledge includes CTS, COG, EPs, knowledge of tidal heights, fall of tide, working out projected depths for anchoring, working out clearances under bridges, some basic weather, basic collision regulations etc.
The RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster theory course takes Day Skipper level students to a completely new level bringing an understanding of secondary, a greater knowledge of tidal streams, heights etc. Safety, weather, position fixing and much more is covered in greater detail.
The Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Theory course is the level require for the RYA Coastal Yachtmaster, RYA Yachtmaster Offshore practical certificates and is a pre-course requirement for the RYA Yachtmater Ocean Theory course.

Theory courses are great at providing the background knowledge to enhance your boating, however not everyone has the time to spend a week or several weekends in the classroom attending the course. Evening classes are another option but require a long commitment as you need to attend once a week for many weeks.
Interactive learning offers an alternative to the traditional methods of teaching theory courses, allowing you to learn when you want and where you want, all you need is access to the internet. This online course is delivered by Navathome, an RYA Recognised Training Centre specialising in online training. The course can be book via our website.

Any instructor support needed during the course will be provided by ourselves on behalf of Navathome, either via telephone or email, at no extra cost. We monitor all course answers, and feedback/assistance can be given when requested or if necessary.

These can be offered for free to anyone who books an online course with us and who requires an invigilated assessment for a commercial endorsement or as a Master 200 prerequisite. We can also arrange invigilated assessments at other sites around the country, or elsewhere in the world, at a cost.
Please note if you intend to use this certificate as part of your application to the MCA for Master 200, Officer of the Watch etc. qualifications; an invigilator will need to be present whilst you sit the final assessments. This can be arranged free of charge at our classroom in Plymouth or for a small fee we can usually arrange it somewhere near you.
The course is valid for 6 months, it can be extended by paying a £30 admin fee. Extensions are available within 3 years from the time the course has lapsed. Once a course has lapsed for longer than 3 years, it will be terminated.
Navathome Course Access Details
To enable access to your online course we need to share some of your personal data with Navathome via www.navathome.com. This training website and database is held and maintained on a secure server. Navathome is an RYA training centre which specialises on online navigation training and will not use your personal data for any reason other than enabling your course.
Your payment information will be collected by “SeaRegs Training” on behalf of Navathome. This information is collected by “SeaRegs Training” and is not passed on to any other organisation. Payment information for the purpose of logging you into the Navathome admin will not be retained once the payment is mad. Your name and email address will be entered on www.navathome.com in order to create your user account. Your postal address will be provided in order to send your student pack. You have access to the site for six months in order to completed your online course. During this period, your personal information will be held on the website by Navathome and may be available to “SeaRegs Training” who may have access to the Navathome database. This period may be extended should you wish to extend your course access.
On completion of your course, your name and email will be retained by Navathome for the purpose of recording details of the course and any certification you gain as a result of it. This information allows Navathome to record your certification. Your instructor will not hold any information for the purposes of Navathome student support after this date. Please note that this agent may hold information to enable provision of other training not associated with the Navathome course.
Should you not complete the course in the given time frame, your name and email will be retained by Navathome for the purpose of recording details of the course. This information allows Navathome to retain a record of coursework you have completed. Your instructor will not hold any information for the purposes of Navathome student support after this date. Please note that this training centre my old information to enable provision of other training not associated with the Navathome course.
If you would like your personal data removed from www.navathome.com prior to the end of your access period or at any time before you have completed your course, you can request it by email. Please contact email@example.com giving your name and email address and the course you would like to delete. Please note that if you request deletion of your account before you have completed your course, your access to the course and records of your progress will be lost.
If you would like details of your online course removing from the Navathome database when you have completed the course, please email your request to firstname.lastname@example.org giving your name and email address. Please note that removal of course details from the Navathome database, means that any certification gained as a result of this course will not be verifiable by Navathome, nor would Navathome be able to help with replacement certificate.
