Maritime Training General Manager – £35000 - £38500 (DOE) then base salary + linked to profits after the first year

SeaRegs Training specialises in internationally recognised STCW, MCA SQA and RYA courses and are a leading maritime apprenticeship provider. We provide maritime training for masters, skippers, engineers, instructors and crew to international standards. While our roots are in Plymouth, we teach courses around the UK and overseas.

SeaRegs operate 6 classrooms and 8 vessels, including 3 motor vessels, 2 RHIBs, 2 yachts and a USV. They are a Dept of Education main provider of apprenticeships and have approximately 40 apprentices from around the country on two-year apprenticeships.

SeaRegs has grown over the last 10 years to become a well-respected and forward thinking provider of marine training specialising in the workboat and small commercial vessel sector.

The role involves direct responsibility for company, safety, training standards, vessel compliance and sales.

The successful applicant would work alongside the Directors in the first year, learning the business then gain greater autonomy as their skill base increases within the company.

Duties would include:
Joint responsibility with Directors for company strategy
Vessel and asset management
Vessel and asset compliance
Management of maintenance team
Management of Instructional team
Management of the administrative and sales team
Main Designated Person for vessel safety
Co-responsibility for regulatory compliance
Overview of sales and course organisation
Instructional and assessment oversight

The candidate will possess:
Passion and drive, to continue the success of the company
Very good communication skills
Experience of managing people
A good work ethic
A strong maritime background
Knowledge of small commercial vessels and refits
IT Literate (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

Ideally the candidate will possess:
A Health and Safety qualification/background
A teaching qualification with a minimum Level 3 or IMO train the trainer
Ideally an MCA Masters, OOW certificate or similar (BML T1 L2, M200 or higher)
An RYA Instructors qualification
Training in either Designated Person or Auditor

Trainee Instructor      £22.5-27K DOE or pro rata
Experienced Powerboat or Sailing Instructor or Commercial skipper, engineer with bags of enthusiasm but limited certificates who we will work with to train to higher levels and to expand into an instructors role or to increase their instructional knowledge and competence. Must be enthusiastic and a good communicator.  The candidate will work for us but also undergo RYA, SQA, IMO and MCA training as part of their package. This could be Full time or part time or occasional to work with rota systems of another employment.

Navigation/Vessel Trainer/Instructors       £27– 32K DOE
Enthusiastic, empathetic Instructors who can teach a variety of courses across either RYA and or MCA/SQA levels. The person would be an experienced instructor possibly multi- discipled across a range of subjects. They may also be an experienced Master with exceptionally good communication skills whom we could train to instruct and mentor until they are the correct level. This could be Full time or part time or occasional to work with rota systems of another employment.
