RYA Advanced Powerboat Instructor
Description:
This is a two day course and one evening, looking at how to best teach the advanced powerboat syllabus and teaching technique. Candidates will be teaching parts of the syllabus under guidance. The course includes a night exercise conducted in darkness.
Successful completion of this course will allow candidates to teach RYA Tender Operator, RYA Intermediate Powerboat, and RYA Advanced Powerboat courses. Your APBI will be valid for 5 years from date of issue, provided that a valid first aid certificate is maintained.
In order to attend this course you will need:
The RYA Powerboat Instructor qualification
The RYA Advanced Powerboat Course Completion Certificate
One of the following Certificates of Competence: The Advanced Powerboat, Yachtmaster Coastal Power, or Yachtmaster Offshore Power
A valid Commercial Endorsement (Advanced instructors who do not hold a valid CE will only be able to teach Intermediate Powerboat)
An RYA Health Questionnaire (for those without a commercial endorsement)
RYA Membership
Five seasons’ experience of powerboating logged (preferably in range of boat types and sizes) OR one season for those who use powerboats as an integral part of their normal full-time occupation.
