Yachtmaster Coastal/Offshore Theory course - £310
Theory courses are great at providing the background knowledge to enhance your boating, however not everyone has the time to spend a week or several weekends in a classroom attending a course. Evening classes are another option but require a long commitment as you need to attend once a week for at least 20 weeks.
Interactive learning offers an alternative to the traditional methods of teaching theory courses, allowing you to learn when you want and where you want, all you need is access to a computer and the internet. This online course is delivered by Navathome, a RYA Recognised Training Centre specialising in online training. The course can be booked via our website.
Any instructor support needed during the course will be provided by ourselves on behalf of Navathome, either via telephone or email, at no extra cost. We monitor all course answers, and feedback / assistance can be given when requested or if necessary.
If you feel you need a little extra personalised assistance, we can also offer Blended Learning, combining online courses with 1:1 tuition:
1) Online course with 1x day in the classroom – £310 plus £250 = £560
2) Online course with 4x 45 minute sessions (3 hours total) via Skype or FaceTime – £310 plus £120 = £430
The course
The Coastal / Yachtmaster theory course requires pre-course knowledge to Day Skipper level theory. Assumed knowledge includes CTS, COG, EPs, knowledge of tidal heights, fall of tide, working out projected depths for anchoring, working out clearances under bridges, some basic weather, basic collision regulations etc.
The RYA Coastal Yachtmaster theory course takes Day Skipper level students to a completely new level bringing an understanding of secondary ports, a greater knowledge of tidal streams, heights etc.Safety, weather, position fixing and much more is covered in greater detail.
The Coastal/Yachtmaster theory course is the level required for RYA Coastal Yachtmaster, RYA Yachtmaster offshore practical certificates and is a pre course requirement for the RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Theory course.
Why choose an interactive course?
The course is made up of detailed lessons, most of which are animated for easy learning. Each lesson is followed by a set of questions which can be answered online. Once an answer is submitted the feedback is instant in the form of a detailed answer page. Some answers will be forwarded to your instructor who will provide personal feedback and help where required.
One of the major advantages of using the SeaRegs Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore course is being able to know instantly how you are doing. Even the answers that you have submitted to your instructor are provided with instant feedback.
You can book your course on line and be working straight away on the sections where the RYA pack is not needed. Your RYA pack, containing your charts, RYA almanac, RYA course notes, and course plotter, will be posted first class post the same day.
The SeaRegs suit of courses is professionally written in association with Navathome by fully qualified RYA instructors with a background in e-learning and computer programming.
INVIGILATED ASSESSMENTS
These are required if your Yachtmaster Theory certificate is being used towards a commercial endorsement or as a Master 200 prerequisite. Yachtmaster assessments are now a lot more involved and take up to two days, for this reason it is therefore not always possible to offer invigilation for these assessments. Please contact us to discuss this further.
