This two-day course offers a comprehensive introduction to the remote operation of Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs), aimed at skippers and mates of manned small commercial vessels seeking to expand their skills. Through a blend of classroom-based theory and hands-on practical experience in a Remote Operation Centre, candidates will practise close quarters handling, route monitoring, and situational awareness using a HydroSurv REAV-28 USV outfitted with Robosys software.

The course covers:

  • Regulatory frameworks governing USVs.
  • Remote operational skills within a simulated environment.
  • Handling and route planning for in-sight and remote operations.

The training is particularly relevant for operations within harbours or limited coastal areas and for missions such as surveying, search and rescue, or scientific research. Certification is awarded on completion, endorsing the operator's competency in line with SeaRegs Training standards.

Entry Requirements:

  • Experience in navigating small vessels.
  • Hold a certification allowing commercial operation in Area Category of Operation 6 or above.
