ISM Maritime Designated Person + Lead Auditor

This is the Designated Person and Lead Auditor course combined together over 5x days at a slightly reduced rate.

First 3x days - Designated Person
This course introduces the concepts of the responsibilities for a Designated Person within a safety management system. It covers requirements from the International safety Management Code, Domestic Safety Management, Code vessel and Class vessel requirements: knowledge and understanding of the ISM/DSM Code; mandatory rules and regulations; applicable codes, guidelines and standards; assessment techniques of examining, questioning, evaluating and reporting; technical or operational aspects of safety management; knowledge of shipping and shipboard operations; participation in a Management System Audit; effective communications with shipboard staff and senior management.
Pre-requisites: Tertiary qualification in management, engineering or physical science, or qualification as a certified ship officer or other formal education

Last 2x days - Lead Auditor
To introduce the concepts of the requirement of internal and external audit of safety management systems in the maritime industry. It covers requirements from the International Safety Management Code and Domestic Safety Management, and includes: auditing techniques and processes plus the management of an auditing program.

To develop the course we have followed the elements within:
- Functional requirements of the ISM and DSM codes
- MSC-MEPC.7/Circ.8 Revised guidelines for the operational implementation by companies
- Resolution A1118.(30) Revised guidelines on the implementation by Administrations
Pre-requisites:
- Tertiary qualification in management, engineering or physical science, or qualification as a certified ship officer or other formal education
- Designated Persons Course or similar
