The Day Skipper Theory course is a comprehensive introduction to cruising for inexperienced skippers. The course equips you with enough knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day. A basic knowledge of lights is also included to introduce you to night cruising.
It is full of fantastic information from tying a knot, tidal height, tidal streams, weather to plotting a course to steer and passage plans. Once you have completed the course you will be safer for yourself, your friends and family and after completing an RYA Day Skipper Practical course, you should be well on your way to being a first class skipper.
The course takes approximately 40 hours to complete with an assessment of 2 parts (1.5 hours for each) taken in one sitting.

Invigilated Assessments
These can be offered for free to anyone who books an online course with us and who requires an invigilated assessment for a commercial endorsement or as a Master 200 prerequisite. We can also arrange invigilated assessments at other sites around the country, or elsewhere in the world, at a cost.
