This course is designed to provide foundational knowledge and skills for the operation of Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs) within inland waterways and limited coastal areas. The program is tailored for skippers and mates of manned small commercial vessels, as well as owners, operators, and harbour authorities.
The curriculum will cover both the practical aspects of USV control and the theoretical knowledge necessary to understand the regulatory frameworks governing these vessels. Completion of this training will equip participants with a solid understanding of USV functionality, operational competencies, and limitations, enhancing their qualifications for roles in modern maritime operations.
The aim of this two-day course is to transition the skill set of maritime professionals from traditional vessel operation to the emerging field of USV technology. It focuses on enabling participants to handle USVs with the same confidence and safety awareness as they would with manned vessels. The course also seeks to provide a comprehensive overview of the working conditions and requirements associated with USV operations, promoting a safe and efficient working environment.
