The OLB contains important records about the vessel and how it is being run, including:
- Lists of crew
- Musters, Boat & Fire Drills, Training, Inspection of LSA & FFE;
- Tests of Steering Gear;
- Records of Food and Water
- Distress Messages received;
- Inspections of Accommodation, Food & Water;
- Accidents & Incidents
- Disciplinary matters;
- Crew complaints;
- Appointment of Safety Officials.
When the logbook is full, or after 6 months, it should be sent to the Registry of Seamen. It then creates a record of:
– the vessel
– the occurrences onboard
– the crew who sailed onboard over that time
